Style 2 Hourglass

In the late 1920s, Weissenborn advertised his Style 2 as "Back and sides of selected Koa. Top of selected Koa or Spruce if preferred. Fingerboard of selected Koa inset with fancy selected pearl position marks and fretted with white holly. Top and bottom edges surrounded with black binding. Fingerboard bordered with white binding. Soundhole surrounded with rope and ring of genuine wood marqueterie. Finish of highest grade and hand-rubbed to a gloss. Depth of body, 3 inches."

Hand made in the old school Hawaiian style, My Style 2 is patterned from the late 1920s original – down to the finest detail. It features finest quality air-dried Koa wood and hide glue construction throughout. Hand applied nitrocellulose finish in the old style without any modern fillers or primers. Like the late ‘20s original it is designed and constructed to be light but still solid, and setup to have the most musical and lyrical voice possible.

The koa graded for Style 2 instruments is a classic beautifully grained or striped koa in the old style. If you have a special request please inquire.
